1.
Will the HardCopy devices support smaller APEX 20KE
devices?
The APEX EP20K400E device is the smallest device
supported.
2.
Will the HardCopy devices support FLEX 10K¢ç devices
or other mature Altera PLDs?
No. HardCopy devices are designed
to support only the high-density APEX 20KE and APEX
20KC products and future products (Excalibur embedded
processor solutions, etc).
3.
Will the HardCopy devices support the all-layer-copper
APEX 20KC devices?
Yes. The performance improvement achieved
by the die size reduction and metal interconnect allow
the use of 0.18-¥ìm aluminum process to also support
APEX 20KC devices.
4.
Will the HardCopy devices support Excalibur products?
Will HardCopy devices support the Nios¢â soft embedded
processors?
Yes. HardCopy devices will support
Excalibur embedded processor devices with densities
of 400,000 gates and above. Also, because the Nios
embedded processor is a soft core processor, there
is no difference between a regular PLD and one that
uses a Nios embedded core. No royalties or additional
license fees will be charged.
5.
What is the lead-time for prototypes and production
units?
If all the required design guidelines
are met, lead-time from output file receipt to prototype
delivery is 7 to 8 weeks. After the customer has approved
the prototypes, production units will be delivered
in 8 to 9 weeks.
